A Special Night at Our New Wharf On the evening of May 12th, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, something amazing happened at Hobsonville Point. The Aurora Australis, also known as the Southern Lights, lit up the sky with beautiful colours. This happened right above our nearly finished Wharf at the Upper Waitematā Marine Centre. It was a great moment for everyone in the community and visitors who got to see this stunning show.

A Night to Remember Everyone felt excited as the sky turned into a mix of bright greens and pinks. These colours are from solar particles hitting the Earth’s magnetic field, and they remind us how beautiful our natural world is.

This year, people all over the world saw the Aurora Australis, making it a shared experience of joy and beauty. Read about how this special night affected other parts of New Zealand and brought smiles to many faces.

The photo of this beautiful sky was taken just one day before we finished building the Wharf. This tells us about all the great things we can do at this new place once it opens. The Wharf will be a spot not just for launching boats but also for community gatherings and watching the sky.

Looking Forward to More Great Evenings Seeing the Aurora Australis at Hobsonville Point was really special and just the beginning of the good times we can have at the new Wharf. We’re almost ready to open it, and we can’t wait to have more events where we can enjoy nature and spend time together as a community.
